Online Essentials is the third module of the ECDL course. It focuses on getting you online and is divided into two sections. The first section, Information, will help learners to understand the concepts and terms associated with using the Internet and to appreciate some of the security considerations. Once you have successfully completed the course you will be able to accomplish common Web search tasks using a Web browsing application and available search engine tools. Be able to bookmark Web sites, and to print Web pages and search outputs. The module also covers navigation within Web forms and how to complete Web forms.

The second section, Communication, covers concepts of electronic mail (e-mail), together with appreciation of some of the security considerations associated with using e-mail. Once you have completed the training, you will be able to use e-mail software to send and receive messages, and to attach files to mail messages and also, organise and manage message folders/directories within e-mail software.

  - d. Tools and Settings
  - e. Organising E-mails

For this module we say that it will take around 6 hours to finish. The length of time taken depends entirely on how quickly you can study and absorb the material. You can proceed as quickly or slowly as you like, and there is no limit on how long you can take to do the course. Its up to you!
